Gigalight Launches the Mass Production of 40G QSFP+ SR4 GEN2

Shenzhen, China, March 14, 2016 − Gigalight has announces the launch of mass production of 40G QSFP+ SR4 GEN2 optical transceiver. The main difference of the GEN2 in the market lies in the multichannel real-time DDM function, which is easy to realize for transceivers with data rate lower than 10Gbps, but very complicated for those with data rate more than 10Gbps, as the latter is mostly based on COB not on packaging technique.

As for parallel high-speed optical transceiver with higher rate, it requires excellent design and precise layout to realize optic circuit detection on 4-channels or 12-channels array light chip in an extremely limited space, which has been accomplished by Gigalight patented optical engine technology. Having started to develop optical engine technology since 2011, now by virtue of its own endeavor and cooperation with quality suppliers, Gigalight has gained rich experience and unique technology about array LENS development and integrated optical devices coupling capsulation. It is a critical mission for Gigalight R&D long-term works that realizes multichannel optical power DDM real-time monitoring of high-speed parallel optical module. The lack of real-time monitoring for optical power does not influence regular operation of optical modules. With loopback having optical power monitoring, engineers can design power automatic feedback compensation circuit, which enables the modules to adjust to wider temperature range and poor external environment. Simultaneous monitoring for multichannel also assures vector compliance of every path.
