Breaking Through 800G: Redefining Next-Generation Data Center Connectivity
Beyond the mainstream 800G DR8/2×FR4 and VR8 solutions, GIGALIGHT is introducing three “New Forces” to drive traditional 800G data centers toward the frontiers of diverse applications.
New Force #1: 800G QSFP-DD/OSFP FR8 (Single-Fiber WDM)
GIGALIGHT’s 800G FR8 leverages 8-lane LWDM multiplexing to deliver 800GE transmission over 2 km with duplex fibers. Compared to the 800G 2×FR4 design, it saves two fiber strands, significantly reducing deployment and O&M costs.
For next-generation optical circuit switch (OSC) systems, the FR8 can also support single-fiber single-mode BIDI 800GE up to 500 m via built-in or external circulators—maximizing OSC port efficiency and overall network value.
New Force #2: 800G OSFP XPSM8 / 8ER (SiPh + APD)
Built on a 1310 nm silicon photonics modulation platform with APD receivers, the 800G OSFP XPSM8/8ER modules feature dual MPO-12 interfaces and enhanced sensitivity margins—ideal for specialized data center architectures.
XPSM8: Up to 20 km reach
8ER: 30 km+ reach
This series extends the reach of 800G OSFP DR8++/PLR8 and is well-suited for networks with higher link loss, such as those incorporating optical backplane switches (OBS).
New Force 3: 800G OSFP DR8 LPO+ (Trusted Linear Drive Optics)
Unlike conventional LPO modules, GIGALIGHT’s trusted LPO+ silicon photonics modules ensure channel stability and consistency across all temperature conditions—a capability that traditional LPO silicon photonics modules currently lack. The 800G OSFP DR8 LPO+ adopts 1310 nm SiPh with MPO-12/APC interface, supports 500 m transmission, and operates below 8.5 W.
By eliminating the DSP, power consumption is reduced by up to 50% while latency drops dramatically—delivering a major advantage in AI/ML clusters and high-performance computing environments where ultra-low power and latency are critical.
