GIGALIGHT Establishes Brazil Office to Help 5G Communications in Latin America

Shenzhen, China, Dec 30, 2022 – GIGALIGHT, the open optical network device explorer, today announced the official opening of its office in the historic center of Sao Paulo, Brazil. It will better serve customers in the Latin American market and help the development of 5G communications.
During the economic recovery after the epidemic, 5G technology will provide faster upload and download rates and more reliable network connections, and will affect major economic areas with transmission speeds 20 times faster than 4G transmission. At present, the total population of Latin America is 648 million. According to the data of Omdia and 5G Americas, Latin America currently has about 22 million 5G connections, and the 5G penetration rate is about 3.4%. There are more than 26 5G projects being deployed, and the number of 5G connections is expected to reach 398 million in 2027, when the 5G penetration rate will reach 61.4%.
