GIGALIGHT’s 400G, 800G and 1.6T OSFP224 Hybrid Architecture Equivalent Active Optical Cable products adopt the company’s patented technology: Hybrid Architecture Equivalent Active Optical Cable (Hybrid AOC) technology. This patent is compatible with both VCSEL-based and silicon photonics-based designs.Unlike conventional full-DSP optical modules, the Hybrid series integrates DSP on only half of the channels, thus achieving substantial improvements in both power consumption and latency reduction.
In essence, Hybrid optical modules and active optical cables draw on the industry’s general design methodologies for LPO/LRO. However, from the perspective of strict system signal alignment, Hybrid technology delivers a more advanced design strategy. The equivalent formula for the Hybrid design approach can be simply understood as:Hybrid = (LTO + LRO) / 2.
The core objective of this patent is to pioneer an innovative pathway for reducing power consumption, latency and cost, opening up new perspectives for 800G AI&DC interconnection as well as AI&DC interconnection at 1.6T and higher rates.
