Shenzhen, China, December 10, 2020 – Recently, the latest 5G SPN test project jointly conducted by China Mobile Research Institute (CMRI) and China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) was completed. The 200G MTN/FlexE and OAM functions of GIGALIGHT's 200G QSFP56 LR4 optical transceiver module are successfully tested by VIAVI's ONT-804 SPN/MTN tester, which indicates that GIGALIGHT's 200G QSFP56 LR4 can interoperate with mainstream equipment vendors' 5G SPN and supports China Mobile applications.
As the Chinese government has stepped up the commercialization of 5G networks, China Mobile has innovatively proposed SPN/MTN, including the new G.MTN interface, the new slice channel layer and OAM, etc., and has several major technological characteristics of optical transmission. The core layer introduces 200G QSFP-DD/QSFP56 10km&40km based on 50G PAM4. As early as 2019, GIGALIGHT launched the 200G QSFP56 LR4 (10km) with much lower power consumption than the 200G QSFP-DD LR4.
CAICT and CMRI conducted on-site docking tests based on GIGALIGHT's 200G QSFP56 LR4 and the industry's 200G QSFP-DD LR4 for 200G SPN interfaces of several mainstream equipment vendors, and achieved success. On 200G equipment ports of mainstream vendors, GIGALIGHT's 200G QSFP56 LR4 can implement China Mobile's latest SPN application in all scenarios, complete the demonstration of industrial ecology and products, and all test results are in line with expectations.
